For you dedicated Triathletes you also have awesome scenarios for swim sessions.
Montchavin has its own outdoor pool, situtated 2 minutes walk from the chalet. Open July/August.
Bored of pools? Try the Alpine Lake on the banks of the River Isere a 5 minutes drive/ride from the Chalet. Hundred metres plus in length, Plan D' Eau is open May - September.
Bourg St Maurice a 15 minutes drive/ride has both a 25 metres indoor pool open year round and a 50 metre outdoor pool open July/August.
For serious distance training Lac Annecy at 14km in length and between 4-10km wide has a number of supervised beaches from which to start your swim. Annecy is a stunning french town a 1 hour dirve from the chalet but also a destination used for a return ride.
Montchavin - Albertville -Lac Annecy return 140K. Stunning ride. 85K on desiginated cycle piste. False flat at worst a stunning latic burning ride.
A return tour from the Chalet to Bonneval Sur Arc 140K (arguably the prettiest village in the Alps) taking in the climb of the Col de L’Iseran from both sides is just stunning. At 2770 metres Col de L'Iseran is the highest Col in europe and is to be used for the first time in a number of years in the 2007 TDF. Mind you return rides over the regularly TDF used Cormet de Roseland past the Lac de Roselend, to the Col DU Pre, in either direction, are just breath taking.
Even the most dedicted roadies have been tempted to run the moutain paths that lead from the Chalet. The easy ski runs in the winter provide an excellent surface to run on, from chalet level at 1400 metres to upwards of 2500 metres into the forest of La Plagne. For a flatter route the cross country ski route runs from Montchavin for 7K alternativly the piste down in the valley runs along the River Isere for 14K.
